PROVIDERS

Meet The Providers

“The staff in this office are magical. I seriously could not ask for a better experience for my child. I want to be a patient there. The dentist doesn’t have to be scary when you have people who know how to work with children and have the exceptional dental skills this entire team has. We previously went to a different dentist in another state and we were extremely happy with them. They did magic tricks and were very wonderful. I never thought that we would find a place that was even better! Thank you Asheville Pediatric Dentistry, you are all amazing and we are grateful for you!!!!!! ”

Jessica Mark - Advanced Practitioner and Advanced Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy®

I’m so grateful to be a part of the team here at Asheville Pediatric Dentistry! For over 30 years, I have been involved in the movement, fitness, and wellness field, and the learning still continues. I am an Advanced Practitioner and Advanced Instructor of Ortho-Bionomy®, an osteopathically based bodywork therapy that supports the body’s innate, self-corrective capacity to heal. After graduating from the New Mexico Academy of Healing Arts in 2006, I continued to complement my Ortho-Bionomy practice with studies from Polarity Therapy, Trauma Therapy, Visceral Manipulation, infant developmental movement, and Body-Mind Centering®. In addition, I am a certified Breastfeeding Specialist™.

One of my deep passions is working with babies and children to help open up new pathways for their growing bodies to experience greater ease and connection. I am married and have two fabulous kids. In my downtime, you’ll find me combing through cooking magazines in search of the best biscuit recipe.

A bit more about Ortho-Bionomy®:

Infants and children can experience trauma, injury, and imbalance just like adults. Because they are inherently resilient, they usually find ways of compensating that provide adequate use of their moving bodies. However, sometimes these patterns can create dysfunction or pain and can make the natural growth stages more difficult to achieve. From trouble with breastfeeding, to delayed motor skills, to challenges with anxiety or sensory sensitivities, Ortho-Bionomy® may help the body’s ability to respond to enable greater ease of growth and development.

For issues related to anxiety, Ortho-Bionomy approaches it from a physiological lens. Depending on the age of the child, we educate children about strategies to recognize and then help move the excess energy build up in the body that are crafted for their unique composition.

Ortho-Bionomy® may provide support for infants and children with:

  • Breastfeeding difficulties

  • Asthma

  • Colic

  • Ear infections

  • Recovery from traumatic birth

  • Gastrointestinal issues

  • Reflux

  • Developmental delays

  • Anxiety

  • Sensory sensitivities

  • Extreme mood swings

  • Hyperactivity

  • Sleep issues

  • Some of the ways I explain Ortho-Bionomy to kids include the following:

I help the roadways of all the parts of your body stay clear so your body has the fastest routes possible to communicate and send signals to where they need to go. And, it helps create even more roadways! This allows your body to feel its best so you can run and jump and play and feel great all the time!

My hands are my listening tools. They allow me to hear what’s happening on the inside of your body and help keep things moving their best. This helps you feel comfortable all the time, no matter where you are or what’s happening around you.

For everything to work well in your body, all your parts have to communicate well. And for communication to work well, all the phone lines have to be connected. Sometimes, though, there is a phone line that is broken or disconnected. My job is to help reconnect them so your body can hear what the other parts are saying and then can work at its best.
